ArcSoft was established in 1994 by Michael Deng Hui, with the goal to develop advanced image enhancement software. He started his own business in Silicon Valley and has recently become the country’s newest billionaire.

The company is a leading international provider of visual AI algorithm and software used for advanced camera systems for various platforms. Among its largest customers are Samsung Electronics, Huawei Technologies, Oppo, Vivo and Xiaomi Corp. After its journey of 25 years in US, it has now entered China.

ArcSoft’s mission is to remain at top in its area of expertise. So in 2004, the company decided to shift its emphasis towards mobile photography, by utilizing computer vision technology to enhance the performance of phone cameras.

The software which was developed for cameras on smart phone models, has enabled the users to capture sharper and brighter photos at night, it allows adjustment for movement to prevent blurred images and also shoot 360-degree panoramic pictures.

The technology can also be used for different video live-streaming and photo-editing apps that include beauty filter, which after becoming a sensation in China also became a hit in the rest of the world.

This year it is expected that the number of mobile phone users will exceed 5 billion. With the number of mobile phone users increasing at a high rate, their demands are also growing.

The smart phones that are being manufactured are becoming highly innovative, as users wish to be able to take high-quality still photographs and videos through their devices.

However, the number of cameras that can be provided on a mobile phone has certain constraints. By using the most recent software and AI algorithms, ArcSoft has enabled any ordinary mobile camera to go beyond its limits.

Deng’s company has managed to diversify the application of its technology in vehicles and households appliances as well. According to Deng, their technology has the potential to benefit the society with more than just facial recognition ability to catch criminals.
